We believe every student has what it takes.
Class Act Tutoring was built on a simple idea: when students get the right supports and foundations of learning, they just don't improve their grades, they discover what they are truly capable of. Stephanie, the founder, discovered that when students were taught metacognition, learning HOW you learn, students were set up for success in having a toolbox of strategies by their sides to apply in all subject areas including executive functioning! Stephanie became keen at honing in on each child's individual learning style according to Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences and using those strengths to tap in and tune in while strengthening weaknesses. This is not much different than how we approach health and exercise. Stephanie's background in Reading and Learning Disabilities and certification in child yoga and mindfulness inspired her to combine these practices in addressing the whole child and how they enter the classroom. Here at Class Act Tutoring, we do not see children as grades or a number, we see children as already capable of reaching the goals that they can reach with support and guidance. This is why Stephanie's background in Special Education and IEP goal and benchmark writing helps her students to understand where they are, where they need to go, and the steps they need to take to get there. This is not much different than a compass for the classroom! We know that children can move in the right direction towards being a successful lifelong learner. Here at Class Act Tutoring we know how hard it can be for parents to navigate the Special Education arena. We are here to support parents through the IEP process, advocating for the best practices to suit the needs of your child. We can help provide a seamless bridge between the school and home.
Our mission
For every child to reach their full potential as successful students, life-long learners, and confident individuals.
How we got started
Stephanie Frankel taught for over 20 years. She noticed during her time teaching that struggling students were not given the tools that they needed to truly succeed in school in a practical manner that had lasting results from grade to grade. She grew frustrated with the disconnect between the school and home life and how executive functioning and mindfulness/regulation was typically the missing link! Stephanie found that IEP writing of goals and benchmarks were too rote and focused on standardized test scores rather than meeting students where they were currently functioning and where they needed to be in terms of succeeding in school both academically and emotionally. Ultimately, Stephanie decided that her time was better spent helping children and parents bridge the gap between home and school and she hopes to help children and parents feel more confident and comfortable with the system that can be so frustrating at times.
What we stand for
Student first
Every decision we make starts with what's best for the student — not a curriculum, not a schedule, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Confidence over grades
Grades matter, but we care more about students walking away believing in themselves. Real confidence is the foundation everything else is built on.
Partnership with families
We keep parents informed and involved. You'll always know how your student is progressing and what we're working on together.
Learning should be joyful
We work hard to make sessions engaging, encouraging, and even fun. When students enjoy learning, they learn more.
