Reading Decoding and Comprehension

We build the foundations of reading from the ground up with the blueprint of decoding and encoding using multisensory and innovative techniques. We strengthen comprehension through the use of guided questioning approaches. The results are a greater understanding of all written works, self-confidence and a life-long enjoyment of reading.

Writing

We help students write essays based on the genres expected in all school districts: narrative, expository, argumentative, and descriptive. We help students to become confident in their writing by promoting a process writing approach and guided questioning technique.

Grades 1-6

Math

Basic math computation and arithmetic begins with a comfortable relationship with numbers. For many children, an understanding of math has to be more practical and experiential rather than rote pen and paper tasks. We use hands-on learning of numbers and their applications in the real world by making math more practical.

How We Work

Online sessions

Learn from anywhere with live, one-on-one video sessions. Our virtual classroom includes a shared whiteboard, screen sharing and real-time collaboration tools.

In-person sessions

Class Act Tutoring is located in Westport, CT. We can work with your learner in our home setting or yours, a local library or another comfortable setting of your choice.

Flexible scheduling

Sessions available Monday–Friday 9am–3pm for parent consultations, IEP reviews, and intakes. Student tutoring sessions are available after school hours or weekends.
